Sonic Resolutions - Experience

Sonic Resolutions' founder and director, Graham Smith, was fascinated with computers and communications at a young age. In Graham's early teen years, when the Internet was only accessible though universities in Australia, he ran a Bulletin Board Service. This could be likened to a privately run Internet service provider but rather than using the Internet as transport, the system interfaced with a public mail network called "FidoNet" (a massive international mail network supported on a purely voluntary basis).

However Graham's professional life started when he was accepted into a traineeship scheme with the information technology department of the Northern Territory government in Darwin. During this time, Graham obtained experience in many facets of networking and data communications from LANs, WANs and SNA networks through to telephone exchange programming. This armed him with a unique set of skills to pursue his IT career with.

As a result of Graham's ability to learn new concepts quickly, his customer focused approach, a lot of enthusiasm and his largely self-taught skills base, he was the only trainee in his year to be offered a full-time position with the department on completion of his traineeship. Graham's achievements in his traineeship year also lead to him being awarded the title of "Northern Territory Trainee of the Year" and went on to represent the N.T. in the national finals.

In his full time position, Graham took on the roll of second level fault management in the data communications division, for the massive IBM SNA network in the Northern Territory. This very demanding job put Graham at the helm of resolving any network hardware or communications problems that had been escalated through the help desk. During quieter times, Graham also had the opportunity to build on his skills by becoming involved in new site installations and the implementation of the territory-wide Cisco based Multi Protocol Router (MPR) network.

A few years later, Graham left the department to pursue his passion for PC based computer solutions due to the fact that the IBM/SNA/Mainframe environment had been somewhat of a sidetrack from his original career goals. Graham joined a fast growing computer company in Darwin where he was able to exercise his extensive knowledge of PC based hardware, LANs and WANs. He also received training in Sun Microsystems workstation maintenance as part of an ongoing contract the company had. Graham received many letters of commendation and appreciation from various clients during his years with this company and used the time to further build his skills base and knowledge.

Seeking a lifestyle change, Graham moved to Adelaide at the start of 1997. Within a week, he had found employment with BMS Technology Pty. Ltd., an Adelaide based computer wholesaler. Employed as their computer support engineer, Graham was solely responsible for all technical support issues arising from computer hardware sold through BMS Technology. After 18 months with the company, Graham made the move to start his own private enterprise, now known as Sonic Resolutions.

Sonic Resolutions has been in business now for over 5 years. With over 10 years of professional IT, networking and computer engineering experience behind him, Graham is able to provide high quality IT services, support and solutions with professionalism and genuine care for his client's needs.

Graham is certified under the CCNA® program (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
